A group for indigenous children and youth in foster care ages 7 to 14

Urban Butterflies is a group for Indigenous children and youth in foster care ages 7 to 14. Our goal is to provide them with a greater awareness on how to prevent risk factors and improve health outcomes. We offer unique and fun opportunities to teach cultural art and dance, spirituality, and skills for surviving the emotional pain associated with living in foster care and away from their families. We aim to create a setting where each child in the program can learn skills to be self-reliant, and know where to go for help and support.

The Urban Butterflies program was founded by Joy Chalmers (1953-2021)
